Man Critical after Shipping Container, Forklift Falls on Him
On May 24, a steel company worker, 30 years of age, was critically injured after the forklift and part of the container collapsed on top of him, pinning him to the ground in Glen Anil, Durban.
Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen reported to have said that the freak accident left him with a possible amputation of his lower leg.
The accident occurred while he was offloading cargo out of the container and the ground underneath the truck and container collapsed causing it to tip over.
“Swift action by the worker’s colleagues saw him removed from the wreckage. Netcare 911 paramedics worked for more than 40 minutes to stabilize the man who sustained a partial amputation to his right leg.,” he said.
