Houthis Attack Vessel Using Two Projectiles

A commercial vessel navigating the Red Sea was attacked early morning of September 2nd, reports Safety4sea quoting the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

In particular, UKMTO reported that the ship was attacked approximately 70 nautical miles northwest of Saleef at 1:30 AM UTC. The vessel’s master reported that the ship was struck by two unknown projectiles, causing damage that is currently being assessed and managed.

UKMTO further disclosed that the ship’s master reported a third explosion occurring in close proximity to the vessel. Despite the attacks, there were no casualties on board, and the ship is continuing its voyage to its next port of call.

This incident adds to a growing number of attacks on commercial vessels operating near Yemen, with the Houthi movement believed to be responsible.
