Trelleborg Marine & Infrastructure, a leader in engineered polymer solutions, has partnered with Turkey’s Arkas Holding to improve fleet performance and reduce carbon emissions. This collaboration focuses on integrating Trelleborg’s TSX5 shaft power system into Arkas’ fleet performance software, reports Container News.

Fleet Modernization and Carbon Reduction Goals

Arkas Holding has initiated a fleet modernization project. It has aimed at improving operational efficiency, cutting carbon emissions, and ensuring compliance with maritime standards. The project began with five TSX5 systems and plans to expand to an additional 37 vessels to meet EEXI (Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index) compliance.

Through Trelleborg’s TSX5 technology, Arkas Holding is making strides towards a fully modernized fleet in line with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) regulations. These regulations aim to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 across the shipping industry.

Real-Time Monitoring and Operational Improvements

Trelleborg’s TSX5 system offers real-time monitoring of shaft power, torque, RPM, and alarms for over-torque. It ensures compliance with EEXI standards and provides data on fuel flow and speed. It also allows operators to make informed decisions to enhance energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
