CMA CGM reports that it has informed its valued customers about some important changes affecting the local port charges imposed on several ports at the US East Coast and Gulf region. These newly instituted charges are likely to come into effect from 11th of October, 2024 and should remain in place until any further notice.

Affected Cargo Ports

The newly introduced Local Port Charge at Origin (LPC01) will be applicable on all departures from US East Coast ports and US Gulf, to any final destination.

This charge will apply to all the international shipments, thereby distributing a fair share of port operation and services’ costs directly among stakeholders involved.

For shipments departing from US East Coast and Gulf ports to global destinations, new rates will be:

  1. $800 per 20-foot container (Dry/Tank)
  2. $1,000 per 40-foot container (Dry/Tank)
  3. $1,266 per 45-foot container (Dry/Tank)

Local Port Charge at Destination (LPC51)

For Reefer and Special Equipment, including In Gauge/Out of Gauge (OOG) cargo, the local port charge at destination will be:
