Disney Treasure, the newest ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet, has successfully made its 16-hour conveyance from the German shipyard in Papenburg to the ocean berth in Eemshaven, Netherlands. The voyage along the winding River Ems marks the final stages of the ship’s construction, reports Marine Insight.

Aided by Tugs and Stern-First Navigation

The 341-meter-long ship, with a beam of 128 meters, was guided stern-first along the river by tugs to help navigate its narrow turns. This maneuver allowed better control of the vessel and smoother passage.

Disney Treasure is designed to accommodate 4000 guests and 1555 crew members, featuring spacious accommodations, including luxurious suites. It’s the second dual-fuel LNG cruise ship for Disney, following in the footsteps of Disney Wish.

Final Preparations Underway

After arriving in the Netherlands on September 19, the ship will undergo final finishing touches before being delivered to Disney Cruise Line. Sea trials will also be conducted to test speed, maneuverability, and onboard systems.

Disney Treasure is the second of three ships Disney ordered from Meyer Werft. The first, Disney Wish, was delivered in 2022, while the third, Disney Destiny, is set for delivery in 2025. A fourth ship will be built in Japan.

In addition to the current fleet, Disney has placed orders for four more ships of a new class, which will be delivered between 2027i and 2031. These ships will also be constructed by Meyer Werft.

Destination: Port Canaveral

Once delivered, Disney Treasure will sail from the Netherlands to Port Canaveral, Florida, which will serve as its homeport. The ship is scheduled to enter service in December 2024, offering Caribbean cruises.

A standout feature of the Disney Treasure is the Tomorrow Tower Suite, a 2000-square-foot suite located in the forward funnel. It can accommodate eight people, providing a unique stay for guests aboard the cruise.

Ocean Views and Themed Staterooms

Of the 1256 staterooms onboard, the majority offer ocean views, with approximately 70% featuring verandahs.

The rooms are designed with themes from Disney, Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel, enhancing the guest experience.

Themed Dining and Activities

Adult-only areas and the exciting Aquamouse ride, which propels two-person vehicles above the upper decks, add to the ship’s entertainment options.
