DP World has expanded its Marine Services fleet with the addition of two newly built vessels, Navios Utmost, and Navios Unite, marking a significant step in the company’s sustainability and operational goals, reports Container News.
Ceremony in China Marks Vessel Naming
The two vessels were officially named during a ceremony held at the Changhong shipyard in Zhoushan, China, highlighting DP World’s continued investment in modern shipping solutions.
“Investing in these state-of-the-art vessels underlines DP World’s unwavering commitment to driving sustainability and operational efficiency across the global maritime sector,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World.
Fleet Renewal Strategy
The vessels will join Unifeeder’s fleet as part of DP World’s fleet renewal strategy, focusing on deploying more efficient vessels while testing alternative fuels to reduce the environmental impact.
Both Navios Utmost and Navios Unite are Sapphire 5300 compact gearless container vessels, equipped with advanced technologies to improve cargo handling, lower operational costs, and enhance sustainability.
Hull Optimization and Energy Savings
The vessels are designed with hull optimization and energy-saving technologies to enhance fuel efficiency, further lowering their carbon footprint and supporting DP World’s environmental goals.
Navios Utmost will be deployed on Unifeeder’s Far East Madras Express Service (FME). Navios Unite will serve within DP World’s Asian Gulf India Service (AGI), boosting operational efficiency in these regions.
