Minerva Bunkering is delighted to welcome the newest member of its fleet: an LNG dual-fuel bunker tanker, M/V Amalthea, which was christened at a ceremony in Singapore, reports Minerva.

M/V Amalthea

Amalthea marks the first of eight 8,000 dwt LNG-powered bunker tankers, ordered specifically to support Minerva’s growing business operations within the key market, the Singapore market. The vessel was built at Jiangmen Hangtong Shipyard in China and has been flagged in Singapore. Built to the highest industry standards and under Bureau Veritas classification, Amalthea has twin Yanmar LNG dual-fuel engines which reduce emissions while still affording the flexibility to carry the traditional marine fuels and the liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Amalthea reflects the commitment at Minerva towards the efficient servicing of mariner needs as far as sustainability and innovation are concerned in the fuel supply.

Versatile Service Capabilities

This state-of-the-art tanker will cater to a diversified cross-section of vessels in the shipping industry, from container ships and bulk carriers to cruise ships and tankers. The dual-fuel capability of this vessel is in concert with Singapore’s effort to promote LNG as marine fuel, thus fueling demand for cleaner and more efficient bunkering services in one of the world’s busiest ports.

Cermony Highlights

On 8 October 2024, at the Port of Singapore, there will be the official ceremony. The central events of the day were:
CEO Tyler Baron welcomed the guests.
Kostas Poydakis, the Head of Fleet of Minerva, officiated the Blessing Ceremony
Ceremonial Hull Breaking of the Champagne Bottle led by Zhu Hong -founding partner of Mercuria Asia-, who christened Amalthea as its godmother.
