Wärtsilä Gas Solutions has secured a contract to provide cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems for six new medium-sized gas carrier (MGC) vessels. This order, booked in Q3 2024, further solidifies Wärtsilä’s leading position in the LPG carrier market.

Collaboration with Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding

The vessels are being constructed at the Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui (YAMIC) Shipbuilding yard in China for a Japanese shipowner. Wärtsilä’s proven expertise in cargo handling and fuel gas systems is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of these vessels, which will transport liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Scheduled Delivery and Strong Partnerships

Wärtsilä’s equipment is set to be delivered to the YAMIC yard starting in April 2025. Barry Yang, Sales Manager at Wärtsilä, emphasized the importance of their ongoing collaboration with YAMIC, highlighting the strong market position of their systems in this vessel category.
