GTT, a renowned expert in membrane containment systems for liquefied gas transport and storage, has won a pivotal service contract with Coral FLNG for Eni’s Coral Sul FLNG project off the coast of Mozambique. Eni, acting on behalf of Area 4 partners, oversees the Coral Sul FLNG project, which marks a significant breakthrough for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in Africa.
Overview of Coral Sul FLNG Project
The Coral Sul FLNG unit, located in Mozambique, has an annual production capacity of 3.4 million tonnes of LNG. It is equipped with GTT’s advanced Mark III membrane containment system, with a substantial storage capacity of 238,700 cubic meters. The project achieved a major milestone by delivering its first LNG cargo in November 2022, cementing its importance in Africa’s growing LNG sector.
Details of GTT’s Service Contract
Under the new agreement, GTT will provide a range of technical support services aimed at ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of the LNG storage tanks aboard the Coral Sul FLNG. These services will include both on-site and remote technical assistance, testing, inspection, emergency support, engineering services, and specialized training programs for the FLNG staff.

The core objective of GTT’s involvement is to maintain the safe and reliable operation of the FLNG unit throughout its life cycle. GTT’s expertise will help ensure that the facility continues to operate at its peak, while adhering to the highest safety standards in the industry.
