  • Wärtsilä signed a five-year Lifecycle Agreement with Capital Gas for seven LNG Carriers, aiming to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • The agreement includes remote support, performance optimization, and preventive maintenance to reduce operational costs.
  • Wärtsilä and Capital Gas have a history of collaboration, including a Fleet Decarbonisation Programme launched in 2022.

Wärtsilä has signed a five-year Lifecycle Agreement with Capital Gas Ship Management for seven LNG Carrier vessels, each with a capacity of 174,000 m³. This contract focuses on boosting efficiency, and reliability, and reducing climate impact for the fleet.

Performance Optimization and Remote Support

Under the agreement, Wärtsilä’s Operational Support and performance optimization services will provide continuous remote support to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Advanced diagnostic tools will facilitate quick troubleshooting and minimize downtime.

The vessels operate with WinGD X-DF two-stroke, dual-fuel main engines, enabling more sustainable performance. Wärtsilä’s ongoing remote monitoring and diagnostic capabilities will help optimize these engines’ efficiency.

Addressing LNG Carrier Reliability Needs

Given the limited opportunities for downtime in LNG Carrier operations, this agreement helps Capital Gas secure vessel reliability through expert maintenance support. It aligns with legislative and economic demands for maximum asset use.

Wärtsilä’s preventive maintenance approach is designed to lower operational expenses (OPEX) and lifecycle costs. It will be done by addressing issues early, reducing the need for costly repairs or in-person interventions.

Spare Parts and Global Support

Capital Gas will benefit from Wärtsilä’s supply of high-quality spare parts and access to its global network of workshops and engineers. It will ensure that vessel uptime remains a priority.

Miltos Zissis, Managing Director at Capital Gas, highlights the agreement’s value, stating it combines advanced technology, spare parts delivery, and expert support to maximize vessel uptime.

Ongoing Partnership with Wärtsilä

Wärtsilä and Capital Gas share a close working relationship, beginning with a Fleet Decarbonisation Programme launched in 2022, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Capital Gas’s fleet.

Rajeev Janardhan of Wärtsilä emphasizes the tailored approach of the agreement, specifically designed to support Capital Gas’s sustainability goals, optimize performance, and ensure reliability throughout the fleet’s lifecycle.
