ZeroNorth, Vitol, And Port Of Rotterdam’s Digital Bunker Delivery Trial

1183

ZeroNorth, Vitol, and the Port of Rotterdam have launched a four-week trial for the first digital bunker delivery in Europe, using ZeroNorth’s electronic bunker delivery note (eBDN) solution. This collaboration aims to improve the efficiency and transparency of bunkering operations, enhance data quality, and set a precedent for digitalizing bunkering in Europe.

Objectives of the Trial

  1. Time Savings: eBDN is expected to reduce the time spent on bunker delivery documentation.
  2. Operational Efficiency: Digital documentation minimizes errors and streamlines workflows.
  3. Improved Data Quality: Accurate, real-time data on bunker delivery enhances operational insights.

Key Stakeholders’ Perspectives

  • Port of Rotterdam: The port aims to become a pioneer in Europe for digitalized bunkering, following Singapore’s lead, which was the first to adopt eBDN. This trial is part of the port’s commitment to advancing sustainability and innovation.
  • ZeroNorth: Emphasizing the importance of transparency and efficiency in the bunker industry, ZeroNorth views this initiative as a critical step toward the industry’s energy transition.
  • Vitol: By participating, Vitol aims to demonstrate the benefits of digitalization in bunkering, including increased operational transparency and efficiency, ultimately benefiting customers and the wider market.

Next Steps

Post-trial, the eBDN system will be integrated into the operations of the Port of Rotterdam, paving the way for a fully digitalized bunkering workflow and potential industry-wide adoption of eBDN across Europe.
