The maiden voyage of the two CF 5000 vessels is being used by Damen to really test its innovative IoT system. This award-winning system aggregates and analyzes data from thousands of sensors embedded within the vessel. By comparing that information against ship design criteria and benchmark information, Triton produces actionable insights into vessel performance, maintenance needs and critical metrics, reports Damen.
The Launch of the CF 5000
Remko Bouma, Damen Commercial Director for Cargo Vessels told how he was excited about the fact that Squtrixo would become the company’s first client to take delivery of the CF 5000 unit. “With the data provided by the Damen Triton system, we note that the vessels are performing accordingly. We are also sure that the CF 3850 will satisfy all demands of Squtrixo,” said Bouma.
The launch was the 27th CF 3850 delivered under Damen’s updated series. This next-generation vessel has impressively demonstrated its reliability and operational efficiency during various activities, thus making it a very important platform within Damen’s fleet.
Improved Cargo Efficiency
The CF 3850 has been one of Damen’s cornerstones, and the design has been updated based on modern efficiency and emission standards. The updated design involves hybrid propulsion systems together with bio-diesel operational capabilities, with future preparations for advanced technologies such as wind-assisted propulsion, to minimize more fuel consumption and emissions.
This legacy builds onto the CF 5000 with better fuel efficiency and a higher load volume. With a holding capacity of 7000m³ and cargo-carrying capabilities of up to 5160 tonnes, the CF 5000 comes equipped with grain bulkheads and tween decks for enhanced loading flexibility.
Partnerships to Meet Rising Demand
To keep pace with the increasing success of the CF 3850, Damen joined forces with the Ba Son Shipyard in Vietnam to augment production at its Yichang Shipyard in China.
The CF 5000 series is similar to the CF 3850 in terms of both fuel efficiency and the ability to easily carry varying quantities of cargo. This fusion of efficiency, versatility, and sustainability means that Damen will continue to set a benchmark in modern vessel design.
