On June 5, a product tanker KOLIN 7, which was deployed for waste collection, ran aground near Bozcaada, Turkey. People on the Kepez coast were surprised to see the big ship closer to the coast.
The ship attempted to refloat by its own means, but did not succeed. The local security force immediately rushed to the scene with pollution control devices to check and contain any signs of leakage.
Reports say that tug boats were sent to assist the ship in its refloating efforts. There were no reports of any oil leaks or injuries from the incident so far.
