This move underscores MSC’s commitment to ensuring reliability and adaptability in a dispersed global supply chain.

Asia-Europe and Transpacific Enhancements
- Expanded Port Pairings:
- Additional load ports were introduced across Asia-Europe and transpacific routes.
- Enhanced port connections to accommodate a wider range of shipments.
- Redesign of Indian Subcontinent Transhipment:
- Adjusted networks on headhaul and backhaul legs to improve efficiency.
Notable Route Changes
- Transpacific Mustang Service:
- Shift from a China-Long Beach express to a broader transpacific route.
- New port calls at Seattle, Vancouver, and Portland, boosting services for U.S. agricultural exports.
- Chinook and Pearl Services:
- Vietnam Expansion: Vung Tau and Haiphong added, providing options for U.S. importers to reduce dependence on China.
- Orient and Lone Star Services:
- Busan Call: Introducing South Korea’s Busan hub on westbound backhaul legs, enhancing North American export options.
Europe and Indian Subcontinent Adjustments
- Asia-North Europe Lion Service:
- A new headhaul stop at Nansha in the Pearl River Delta.
- Asia-Mediterranean Dragon Service:
- Transition from Colombo to Adani’s Vizhinjam terminal for eastbound backhaul and headhaul westbound legs.
- Asia-North Europe Britannia Service:
- Colombo added on the westbound leg.
- UK Ports:
- London Gateway gains prominence with a new call on the Albatross service, increasing MSC’s weekly calls to three.
Tonnage Assurance
MSC assured customers that the additional port calls would not alter the tonnage deployed, maintaining operational consistency.
Strategic Vision
MSC CEO Soren Toft emphasized that direct port connections take precedence over speed, reflecting the shift toward a decentralized supply chain. “Our network reflects the future of a more dispersed supply chain,” he said during the World Ports Conference in Hamburg.
