  • PSA Marine Enhances Pilot Training with Cutting-Edge Simulation Technology.

Kongsberg Digital and PSA Marine Pte. Ltd. have formed a strategic partnership to enhance maritime harbour pilot training. The cooperation uses state-of-the-art simulation technology to prepare PSA Marine’s harbour pilots for the challenges of today’s maritime environment, including autonomous ships and sustainable propulsion systems, reports Kongsberg.

PSA Marine and Its Critical Role in Singapore

Headquartered in Singapore, PSA Marine is a leading provider of integrated marine services, specializing in pilotage and towage. The company supports over 180,000 vessels annually at the Port of Singapore, the world’s busiest container transhipment hub. PSA Marine serves various sectors, including ports, terminals, oil and gas, shipping, and renewable energy.

With changing industry requirements like bigger vessels, eco-friendly propulsion systems, and increased safety standards, PSA Marine realized the necessity of advanced training to ensure precision and safety in navigation.

Global Leader in Maritime Simulation

A world leader in maritime simulation technology, Kongsberg Digital is recognized by its advanced simulators used by prominent organizations in Singapore, including the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Singapore Police Coast Guard (SPCG), Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA), and Center of Excellence of Maritime Safety (CEMS). This KONGSBERG user ecosystem further cements the region’s position on safer and greener maritime operations.

State-of-the-Art Simulator Installation at PSA Marine

Kongsberg Digital announced that in April 2025, PSA Marine will upgrade the training infrastructure to include advanced simulators. To be installed are Class A Full Mission Bridge Simulator and Full Mission Tug Bridge Simulator.

These simulators will submerge harbour pilots in hyper-realistic simulated environments modelled after Singapore’s maritime conditions. Pilots will practice scenarios that require navigating dense traffic, managing new types of vessels, and emergency response in a controlled training environment. This initiative once more reiterates PSA Marine’s commitment to upholding its role of maximizing port productivity and ensuring operation safety in the Port of Singapore.
