Elomatic, an international consulting and engineering company, has entered into an agreement with CLdN, a prominent multimodal logistics provider in Northwestern Europe. This partnership will see the installation of Elomatic’s patented Elogrid tunnel thruster technology on two new RoRo vessels under construction.

Enhancing Efficiency and Sustainability

The Elogrid tunnel thruster grid is a groundbreaking energy-saving device designed to enhance side thrust, improving vessel maneuverability. It unlocks new levels of performance and efficiency, contributing to sustainability efforts by reducing resistance, lowering fuel consumption, and minimizing onboard noise and vibrations. This technology is versatile and applicable to both newbuild and retrofit projects, supporting a wide variety of vessel types. The result is smoother and more comfortable journeys, longer lifespans for onboard equipment, and a reduced environmental impact.

Proven Performance

Developed between 2020 and 2021, Elogrid has undergone significant performance improvements. The technology has been shown to reduce fuel consumption by 1-2% per thruster tunnel, depending on speed, by optimizing the flow dynamics of the bow thruster tunnels during cruising. Additionally, it reduces associated vibrations, offering a quieter and more efficient operation. The installation of Elogrid on CLdN’s RoRo vessels is planned for Q1 and Q2 of 2025, with Elomatic overseeing the installation to ensure quality and precision.
