RMI Warns Of Increased Risk For Vessels Operating In Syrian Waters

The ship security level for all Syrian ports and territorial waters has been reduced from Level 3 to Level 2, reports the Republic Of Marshall Islands.

Ongoing Conflicts

The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Maritime Administrator has issued a security advisory for vessels operating in Syrian waters. Due to the ongoing conflict, including the recent overthrow of the Syrian President and missile strikes, the security level for Syrian ports has been raised to Level 2. This indicates an increased risk of collateral damage to merchant vessels.

The advisory instructs RMI-flagged vessels to immediately notify relevant authorities, including the NATO Shipping Centre, the US Coast Guard, and the 6th Fleet NCAGS detachment, in case of any incidents or suspicious activities.
