As the company seeks strategic advantages in bolstering its logistical capabilities, it has acquired control of terminal operations at the Port of Gothenburg. Located in Scandinavia as the largest port for vehicles, Gothenburg remains a key portal connecting the Nordics to distant regions like the Far East, North America, Africa, Australia, and Northern Europe, reports Wallenius Wilhelmsen.
Improving Capability Operations
“It amplifies our operational capabilities in the region and enhances our and the port’s ability to provide seamless and efficient logistics solutions,” says John Felitto, COO of Logistics Services at Wallenius Wilhelmsen.
Expanding for an Added Purpose
By becoming the terminal operator at the Port of Gothenburg, Wallenius Wilhelmsen will be able to establish a long-term partnership with the port. The vision is to act as an integrated supply chain partner while transforming the terminal into a comprehensive “one-stop-shop” for carriers and customers. This approach will foster greater efficiency and innovation in logistics operations.
“Operating the Gothenburg terminal strengthens our logistics network and is a strategic milestone that supports our vision of sustainable and innovative growth,” explained Felitto.

This will further develop the company’s network of operations, while at the same time delivering significant benefits to customers and partners. The Port of Gothenburg provides access to further distribution channels, such as rail and road, further strengthening its position as a critical logistics hub for the Scandinavian market.

Looking Ahead
Wallenius Wilhelmsen will start its terminal operations officially in February 2026, under a 12-year contract. This expansion is in line with the company’s commitment to sustainable and innovative growth, further strengthening its strategic presence in the Nordic region.
