AD Ports Group Forms Partnership with Semurg for Grain Terminal in Kazakhstan

AD Ports Group (ADX: ADPORTS), a leading global group of trade, logistics, and industry, signed a Foundation Agreement with SEMURG INVEST LLP, the developer of the Sarzha Multifunctional Marine Terminal at Kuryk Port, Kazakhstan. This deal marks an important milestone in further developing international food trade and enhancing transportation in Central Asia, reports AD Ports Group.

Ownership and Project Details

Under the partnership, AD Ports Group holds 51% share in the Sarzha Grain Terminal, with Semurg having a 49% share. The partnership started constructing a greenfield grain terminal at Kuryk Port; phase one has been designed to handle 570,000 tons of grain every year. The second phase would increase the terminal’s capacity up to 1.5 million tons annually.

The total investment in the project will be more than USD 50 million, and AD Ports Group will invest around USD 30 million.

Timeline and Strategic Importance

The first phase of the Sarzha Grain Terminal is to be completed by the end of 2026. The terminal will be a critical link between Kazakhstan and Europe through the Transcaspian International Transport Route, which will connect with a network of sea and dry ports across Central Asia.

This investment demonstrates our Group’s dedication to expanding our presence in Central Asia, and in Kazakhstan in particular,” said Al-Shamsi.

He further highlighted the importance of innovation and sustainability in the project, stating, “Sarzha Grain Terminal will not only boost grain trade and handling at Kuryk Port but also, by leveraging modern technologies and sustainable practices, we aim to establish a resilient and reliable food supply chain to meet the growing demand of the global population. This project embodies our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and strategic growth.”

Semurg’s Commitment to Development

Nurzhan Marabayev, General Director of SEMURG INVEST LLP, reflected on the long-term impact of the partnership on Kazakhstan’s economy and infrastructure. “Our partnership with AD Ports Group marks a new impulse for the development of the Middle Corridor and confirms SEMURG INVEST’s commitment to continue further development and execute the transport and logistics potential development roadmap until 2030 approved by the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” said Marabayev.

He added, “The project is aimed at diversifying export routes for Kazakhstan goods, increasing export and transit potential of the Transcaspian route, and developing the Mangystau region economy.”

This deal, which was first announced in August 2023, is part of AD Ports Group’s larger strategy to expand its footprint in Central Asia. The group is committed to enhancing the transportation of resources to global markets, promoting economic growth, and connecting diverse regions through strategic investments and partnerships.
