Drewry’s Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI), the weighted average of regional spot container freight rates, had declined by 6% to $828 for a 40ft container during the fortnight to 15 January 2025, reports Drewry.
Year-on-Year Comparison
Although down, the IACI for the period is 56% higher than its equivalent in 2024. This shows that the strength of intraregional trade has sustained itself. Drewry also forecasts a marginal decline in the rates for the coming weeks but is still likely to stay in the stable range.
