Cavotec reports that it has received three significant shore power orders, amounting to a total of €7 million, for Italian ports, all of which were received late in 2024. This marks the growth in the uptake of sustainable port technologies in Italy as ports look to shift towards greener operations.
Assisting Cruise Vessels Across Western Italy
The first one is the shipment of Cavotec’s PowerMove and PowerFeed systems to aid cruise vessels in several ports throughout western Italy. This project significantly enhances shore power connectivity in the region and constitutes a strategic step toward sustainable cruising in the Mediterranean.
Powering Cruise and Ro-Ro Vessels in Tuscany
The second order relates to the company’s PowerMove technology for cruise and Ro-Ro vessels operating in Tuscany. Under this agreement, two ports will be able to reduce their emissions . It may improve their environmental performance while working toward a cleaner, greener future.
Advancing Shore Power in Southern Italy
The third contract includes two PowerMove systems for connecting cruise vessels, as well as a PowerExtend system to connect container ships at a port in southern Italy. This project underscores shore power solutions’ increasingly significant role for all vessel types and their contribution to emissions reductions.
Delivery Dates and Environmental Considerations
Deliveries for these projects are planned between early 2026 and mid-2026. The initiatives will greatly contribute to emissions reduction and the improvement of air quality in Italian ports. Furthermore, they reposition Cavotec as a reliable leader in sustainable port technologies.
