SEFE Securing Energy for Europe and Höegh Evi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish international supply chains for clean hydrogen, advancing Germany’s energy transition goals. The collaboration will focus on delivering hydrogen via floating import terminals, supporting decarbonization across Germany and Europe.
Key Objectives
- Establishing Supply Chains:
- Sourcing clean hydrogen based on ammonia.
- Transporting ammonia by ship.
- Cracking ammonia into hydrogen at floating import terminals for industrial use.
- Infrastructure Development:
- Höegh Evi will provide midstream infrastructure, including floating ammonia-to-hydrogen terminals along Germany’s Baltic and North Sea coasts and other European locations.
- SEFE will handle upstream and downstream operations, including global sourcing, aggregation of hydrogen demand, and investment in Germany’s hydrogen core grid through its subsidiary GASCADE.
Technology and Expertise
- Höegh Evi will deploy the world’s first floating terminal capable of industrial-scale ammonia-to-hydrogen conversion.
- The floating infrastructure will ensure dispatchable and baseload-ready clean hydrogen for industrial customers.
Leadership Perspectives
- Hamead Ahrary, CSO of SEFE:
“We are proud to partner with Höegh Evi to create competitive clean hydrogen supply chains. This collaboration combines SEFE’s expertise in customer needs and infrastructure with Höegh Evi’s pioneering technology, driving forward Germany’s energy transition.”
- Erik Nyheim, CEO of Höegh Evi:
“This partnership establishes global supply chains for clean hydrogen, paving the way for decarbonization across Europe. Höegh Evi is honored to contribute with our innovative floating infrastructure solutions.”
Future Impact
This collaboration is a critical step toward:
- Strengthening Germany’s position as a leader in clean energy transition.
- Creating sustainable supply chains for hydrogen.
- Supporting industrial decarbonization across Europe.
By leveraging advanced technology and strategic partnerships, SEFE and Höegh Evi are set to redefine clean hydrogen logistics and accelerate the path to a sustainable energy future.
