An explosion involving a tank of methyl acetate at the Port of Barcelona resulted in one fatality and one critical injury, according to Xinhua.

The Catalan regional government, the Barcelona local authority, and the Civil Guards confirmed that an explosion occurred at a warehouse operated by a logistics and storage company at the Port of Barcelona.
The blast resulted in one fatality and one individual sustaining critical injuries. Three others suffered minor injuries. Authorities issued an alert for a potential chemical spill, although methyl acetate, while flammable, is not considered toxic.
The explosion triggered a fire that has since been extinguished. A security zone has been established around the site, and investigations into the cause of the incident are currently underway.
The company assured the public that the situation is now under control and poses no danger to people or the environment.
