DP World Achieves Record 88.3 Million TEU Throughput In 2024

DP World handled a record 88.3 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2024, marking an 8.3% year-on-year increase despite global trade uncertainties. This growth highlights the success of DP World’s long-term infrastructure investments and its ability to navigate global supply chain challenges.

Resilience Amid Global Trade Disruptions

While the Red Sea crisis significantly disrupted global shipping in 2024, DP World’s diversified global portfolio ensured continued operations and minimized delays for customers. The company now has a capacity of over 100 million TEUs across 78 countries.

According to Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World’s Group Chairman and CEO:

“Over the last 10 years, we have invested more than $11 billion in world-class ports and logistics infrastructure to keep trade flowing. Our record performance proves that our investments are delivering the right services at the right locations.”

He reaffirmed DP World’s commitment to expanding its end-to-end logistics capabilities, ensuring it remains well-positioned for continued growth in the container market.

Key Growth Highlights

Posorja Terminal, Ecuador – Led DP World’s performance with an 87% increase, handling nearly 1 million TEUs.
Double-digit growth was recorded at San Antonio (Chile), Yarimca (Türkiye), Chennai (India), Callao (Peru), Antwerp (Belgium), and London Gateway (UK).
Jebel Ali Port (UAE) – DP World’s flagship port saw a 7% year-on-year increase.
New expansions contributed 1 million TEUs, including:

  • DP World-Evyap merger in Türkiye
  • New operations at Dar Es Salaam Port (Tanzania)
  • Belawan New Container Terminal (Indonesia)
