APM Terminals Maasvlakte II (MVII) has officially started its terminal expansion, marking a major milestone in its development as one of the most advanced container terminals globally.

Key Highlights of the Expansion

Doubling Terminal Capacity

  • The expansion, in partnership with the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the CareGo consortium, will double MVII’s capacity.
  • It will make MVII the largest and most efficient APM Terminals operator in Europe.

Sustainable and Automated Growth

  • The expansion includes 51 hectares of additional terminal land, 1,000 meters of deep-sea quay, and advanced truck and rail transfer zones.
  • The project will feature emission-free Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and a fully electrified sustainable infrastructure, setting new industry standards for automation and eco-efficiency.

Timeline and Next Steps

The first phase of the expansion is set to be completed by the end of 2026. APM Terminals MVII remains committed to advancing logistics infrastructure, ensuring supply chain resilience, and driving sustainable terminal operations.
