ORBCOMM has been selected by Folk Maritime Services Company to provide its smart container monitoring technology. This will allow Folk Maritime to track their entire container fleet and improve both supply chain visibility and cargo protection, reports Folk Maritime.
Smart Container Fleet
Folk Maritime, a Saudi Arabian feeder and regional liner services provider, is partnering with ORBCOMM to deploy a smart dry container fleet.
This partnership makes Folk Maritime the first container shipping line in the Middle East to utilize smart dry containers, highlighting their commitment to digital innovation.
Mohamed Badawi, Folk Maritime’s COO, states that ORBCOMM’s technology will enable them to further digitize operations, optimize shipment tracking, improve cargo integrity and protection, and enhance environmental sustainability by optimizing routing and asset utilization.
ORBCOMM’s technology provides location reporting, operational streamlining, sustainability improvements, and enhanced security through door sensors, allowing Folk Maritime to track assets and cargo across the supply chain.
Supply Chain Digitization
Christian Allred, ORBCOMM’s Chief Commercial Officer, praises Folk Maritime for their rapid adoption of supply chain digitalization since launching operations in February 2024.
He emphasizes that this collaboration reinforces ORBCOMM’s leadership in smart container shipping solutions, and expresses excitement about the continued use of their technology to create a more sustainable and efficient supply chain.
