The Port of Açu in Brazil has signed a land reservation agreement with Sempen, a renewable fuels producer, for the construction of a green ammonia plant, reports Offshore Energy.

The planned facility will have a production capacity of 1 million tons per year and is set to contribute to Brazil’s energy transition efforts.

Project Details and Timeline

Under the agreement, Sempen will establish the plant within Açu’s low-carbon hydrogen hub. The project is set to make a final investment decision by 2028, with ammonia production expected to begin in 2030.
