Significant Step

Guillermo Belcastro, CEO of Hutchison Ports BEST, emphasized that this port call signifies a significant step in enhancing the commercial ties between BEST and the alliance consisting of Ocean Network Express (ONE), Yang Ming, and HMM.

During the vessel’s stopover, a metope was presented to its captain, Mr. Theresh Colonne. The event was attended by representatives from the Port Authority of Barcelona (Carles Mayol and Eduard Moyà), Ocean Network Express (Albert Sariñena and Joan Cantarell), and Hutchison Ports BEST (Guillermo Belcastro and Jorge Moreno).

Hutchison Ports BEST, located in the Port of Barcelona, is a state-of-the-art container terminal known for its efficient operations and dedication to innovation and sustainability. According to Belcastro, “With the arrival of this new alliance, we reaffirm our dedication to not only offer high-quality services to our customers, but also to increase BEST’s connectivity by making exporters and importers who use our terminal more competitive.”

Since September 2024, the terminal has been undergoing a yard expansion project aimed at increasing its storage capacity by 25%. Currently, BEST operates with 32 semi-automated blocks, and this expansion phase is scheduled to be completed by the end of April with the operation of block 34. This increase in capacity demonstrates BEST’s commitment to further improving its already high standards of service quality in both maritime and landside operations.
