Baltic Exchange Highlights Green Innovation at Maritime Silk Road Forum

On March 25, 2025, Jin Yu Cheong, Head of Baltic Exchange Asia, delivered the welcome speech at the Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum Singapore Promotional Seminar. Addressing a gathering of industry leaders and stakeholders, Cheong highlighted the strong ties between the Baltic Exchange and China’s maritime sector, particularly praising Ningbo-Zhoushan Port for its advancements in smart and sustainable port operations.

Green Innovation at Maritime Silk Road Forum

Cheong commended Ningbo-Zhoushan Port’s integration of automation, smart logistics, and green initiatives, noting its consistent rise in the Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Centre Development Index over the past decade. He emphasized that the port is setting new global benchmarks for innovation, sustainability, and resilience.

He also highlighted the port’s 2035 Plan, which includes ambitious targets for clean cargo handling, renewable energy use, and low-carbon operations, positioning it as a beacon of ecological excellence in Hangzhou Bay.

The speech concluded with a nod to the upcoming Marine Silk Road Port Forum in May, focusing on the theme “Go Green, Go Intelligent.” Cheong expressed the Baltic Exchange’s support for this vision through ongoing collaboration with maritime partners in China and worldwide.

The event, organized by Zhejiang Port Group, brought together key players from the global shipping industry to explore development opportunities, enhance interconnectivity, and strengthen cooperation in ports, shipping, and trade.
