The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has been recognized by the National Safety Council (NSC) with two prestigious safety awards, acknowledging its outstanding commitment to workplace safety and its impressive record of incident-free operations.
Recognition for Millions of Safe Work Hours
The awards were granted in recognition of ABS achieving over 15 million consecutive work hours globally since January 2023 without a single lost-time incident (LTI). Additionally, ABS’ North American operations were celebrated for surpassing six million hours without an LTI dating back to 2021.
Awarding Body: The National Safety Council
The NSC is a globally recognized nonprofit organization devoted to preventing injury and death in workplaces and on roads. Its awards program honors organizations and individuals making significant contributions to enhancing safety practices and promoting a culture of prevention.
Commitment to a Culture of Safety
ABS has instilled a safety-first culture through regular team safety meetings, training, and empowerment initiatives. Employees are equipped with the tools, authority, and knowledge needed to ensure safety not only in their jobs but also in their everyday lives.
This safety commitment is reflected not just internally, but also in ABS’ industry-leading classification and technical advisory services, helping to advance a safer and cleaner maritime future.
