GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) has announced a significant new order from its long-standing partner, Samsung Heavy Industries of South Korea, for the design of cryogenic tanks on two next-generation Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs).
Largest Tank Capacity Ever Achieved for VLECs
The combined tank capacity of 100,000 m³ across both vessels marks the largest ever achieved for VLECs to date. The ships will be fitted with GTT’s advanced Mark III membrane containment system, known for its performance, safety, and efficiency in transporting liquefied gases at very low temperatures.
Scheduled Delivery by Early 2028
The delivery of these vessels is planned for the first quarter of 2028, underlining the continued demand for large-scale, technologically advanced ethane transport solutions in the global shipping and energy sectors.
