Noatum Maritime, part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster, is taking major strides toward sustainable maritime practices with the acquisition of the GCC’s first all-electric hydrofoiling pilot boat and two fully electric tugboats. These zero-emission vessels mark a significant milestone in the region’s journey toward decarbonisation, aligning with global sustainability goals while enhancing operational efficiency.
Introduction of the Region’s First Electric Hydrofoiling Pilot Boat
The Artemis EF-12 Pilot, the GCC’s first 100% electric hydrofoiling pilot boat, is powered by Artemis Technologies’ advanced eFoiler® technology. This innovation allows the boat to lift above water, significantly reducing drag and cutting energy consumption by up to 85%. As a result, it offers substantial savings in fuel and maintenance costs while delivering high performance with zero emissions. This development supports global energy efficiency targets and offers a sustainable alternative for pilotage operations.
Deployment of Powerful Electric Tugboats at Khalifa Port
Noatum Maritime has also added two Damen RSD-E Tug 2513 vessels to its fleet. Recognised by Guinness World Records for its power, the first unit has already proven its capabilities and is now a permanent part of port operations. A second unit is set to join in April 2025. With rapid charging and the ability to perform multiple assignments on a single charge, these tugs offer reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly assistance in harbour operations.
Driving Innovation and Supporting Sustainability Goals
These investments reflect Noatum Maritime’s broader decarbonisation strategy, offering customers immediate benefits such as reduced emissions and eligibility for carbon credits. Captain Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime & Shipping Cluster, highlighted that the shift to zero-emission vessels supports client sustainability targets while setting new industry benchmarks. The company’s continued focus on clean technology and port infrastructure demonstrates its leadership in advancing sustainable maritime solutions.
