  • The Port of Rotterdam integrates DCSA’s Track & Trace standard into its Port Community System, enhancing container tracking and visibility.
  • The integration supports better cargo monitoring and improves the efficiency and reliability of the export process at one of the world’s busiest ports.
  • The DCSA Track & Trace standard covers 75% of global container shipping volume, supporting over 180 million monthly tracking events globally.

Port of Rotterdam has become the first major port to integrate the Digital Container Shipping Association’s (DCSA) Track & Trace (T&T) Standard into its Port Community System, Portbase, reports a DCSA release.

This integration enhances container tracking and visibility, allowing cargo owners to monitor the status and location of their goods throughout their journey, regardless of the IT systems or logistics service providers involved.

Digital Infrastructure Logistics (DIL) Programme

This development is part of the Netherlands’ Digital Infrastructure Logistics (DIL) Programme, a collaborative effort between the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Portbase, and DCSA. The initiative aims to improve the efficiency, reliability, and transparency of export processes at one of the world’s busiest ports.

The DCSA T&T Standard is already widely used by DCSA’s members, supporting over 180 million monthly container tracking events globally and covering 75% of global container shipping volume. The integration of this standard into Portbase confirms its status as the de facto T&T standard for the global container shipping ecosystem.

Looking ahead, DCSA, Portbase, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management are considering implementing DCSA standards in a new Track and Trace service to further enhance digital infrastructure in the logistics sector.
