The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and Sultan Logistics have formalized an agreement to develop a new logistics park at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The project will involve an investment of up to SAR 200 million, which is approximately US$53 million, reports Container News.

New Logistics Park

A contract for the development of a new logistics park at King Abdulaziz Port was officially signed by the Acting President of the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), Mazen bin Ahmed Al-Turki, and the Chairman of Sultan Logistics, Ali Sultan Al-Qahtani, in a ceremony attended by several officials.

This logistics park initiative is in line with Mawani’s strategic objectives, which are themselves aligned with the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. A key aim of this national strategy is to establish a network of logistics parks both within and outside Saudi Arabian ports. The planned logistics park will encompass a significant warehousing space of 35,000 square meters, alongside administrative offices and a dedicated yard for the storage and maintenance of both dry and refrigerated containers. Furthermore, it will include a re-export zone, which is expected to enhance the overall level of logistics services provided by the port and support commercial activities with robust operational capabilities.

The establishment of this new logistics park is anticipated to bolster the competitive edge of King Abdulaziz Port by enabling the provision of specialized logistics services. It is also expected to drive increased participation from the private sector in economic development initiatives and contribute to the Kingdom’s broader goals of economic diversification.
