Abu Dhabi Explores New Joint Venture To Drive Sustainable Energy

24

A new strategic agreement signals Abu Dhabi’s growing ambitions in the clean energy and liquid bulk storage sectors. A preliminary accord has been signed to explore the formation of a joint venture focused on advancing sustainable energy infrastructure both within the UAE and across international markets.

Aiming to Establish Abu Dhabi as a Global Sustainability Hub

The proposed partnership would see the development and operation of green energy and liquid bulk storage facilities in Abu Dhabi. The collaboration also intends to extend its reach across the EMEA region and beyond, positioning the emirate as a global center for sustainable logistics and industrial growth.

The potential joint venture would be majority-owned by a UAE-based trade and logistics facilitator, with a global storage infrastructure provider holding the remaining stake.

Green Energy Infrastructure at the Core

As envisioned, the collaboration would focus on clean energy carriers such as ammonia, methanol, and other low-emission fuels. A key aspect would involve constructing bulk storage tanks and pipeline infrastructure at a major industrial port, enabling seamless distribution to clients in one of the region’s largest integrated industrial zones.

The initiative is expected to enhance current liquid bulk capabilities and serve as a springboard for future investments in clean energy infrastructure.

Strengthening Global Energy Transition Efforts

This initiative aligns with the UAE’s national strategy to become a leader in multi-fuel bunkering and sustainable energy solutions. By combining global expertise in tank storage and chemical handling with the UAE’s advanced ports infrastructure, the collaboration aims to accelerate the region’s energy transition journey.

The joint venture would also explore opportunities for expansion across international markets, including critical infrastructure projects such as pipelines, jetties, and integrated storage systems.

Mutual Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability

Leaders from both sides expressed confidence in the venture’s potential to deliver long-term value. The focus is not only on infrastructure development but also on driving operational excellence, resilience, and green innovation in global supply chains.

The UAE partner brings a robust industrial base and integrated logistics ecosystem, while the international firm contributes decades of experience in energy storage, spanning petroleum, chemicals, gases, and emerging fuels.
