The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) has released its 2024 Annual Report, presenting a detailed overview of transformative strides taken to regulate, develop, and promote coastal tourism. Backed by robust partnerships, strategic regulation, and innovative initiatives, SRSA continues to position Saudi Arabia as a global leader in sustainable marine tourism.
Regulatory Milestones and Strategic Frameworks
SRSA issued 28 coastal tourism licenses and introduced Saudi Arabia’s first yacht regulatory framework. It also launched four technical codes—the first in the Kingdom—specifically designed to uplift the standards of coastal infrastructure.
To further bolster maritime safety and navigation, 15 high-quality nautical charts were produced in partnership with the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information.
Workforce Development and Compliance Efforts
As part of a commitment to national capacity building, 1,011 Saudis were trained in coastal tourism through collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism. SRSA also conducted over 130 compliance visits to marina operators and tourism agents, reinforcing environmental safeguards and boosting investor confidence in the sector.
Innovation and Insurance for Coastal Activities
In a national first, SRSA launched a dedicated insurance product for coastal tourism activities in partnership with the Insurance Authority, enhancing safety and operational assurance for businesses and tourists alike.
