These include the adoption of cleaner fuels, the upgrading of existing infrastructure, and the implementation of stricter environmental regulations—all of which are crucial components of a comprehensive decarbonization effort.

Instead of solely viewing AI as either a risk or a complete remedy, a more constructive approach for the shipping industry would be to explore its responsible integration and leverage its capabilities in conjunction with broader sustainability initiatives. Thoughtful implementation of AI, coupled with continuous investments in green technologies and adherence to regulatory compliance, could significantly enhance the shipping industry’s effectiveness in managing its environmental responsibilities.
