Meyer Werft, the renowned German shipbuilding group, has awarded a contract to TMC Compressors (TMC), a Norway-based company, to supply the complete marine compressed air system for two newbuild cruise vessels currently under construction for Carnival Cruise Line.
Highly efficient
TMC Compressors (TMC), a Norway-based supplier, has secured a contract to provide the marine compressed air systems for two new 180,000-tonne cruise vessels currently under construction at Meyer Werft for Carnival Cruise Line. These impressive vessels will measure 344 meters long and 42 meters wide, with a capacity to carry 6,400 passengers each.
The two new cruise ships will be built on the same joint technical platform that Meyer Werft and Meyer Turku have utilized since 2018, which has seen the construction of nine LNG-propelled cruise ships for four different cruise lines within Carnival Corporation’s portfolio.
Hans-Petter Tanum, TMC Compressor’s director of sales and business development, highlighted the synergy with the shipyard: “Its short production and logistics routes reflect the efficiency of Meyer Werft’s compact shipyard. As a Norway-based supplier, with manufacturing and assembly in Europe, we can support tight delivery schedules with our marine compressed air system.”
Meyer Werft, renowned as one of the largest and most modern shipyards globally, has a long history of building over 60 cruise ships at its production and construction docks over several decades. The company group includes shipyards in Papenburg and Rostock, Germany.
