Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant BYD continues to scale up its global logistics infrastructure, taking delivery of its sixth roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vehicle carrier—the BYD CHANGSHA—on Tuesday. The expansion of its self-owned shipping fleet is part of the company’s strategy to support rising international demand for its electric vehicles.
BYD CHANGSHA Delivered in Jiangsu
The BYD CHANGSHA was officially handed over during a ceremony held in Haimen, Jiangsu province. This delivery follows closely on the heels of the BYD XI’AN, which was received on Saturday. Both ships are part of a growing BYD-owned fleet designed to secure outbound logistics capacity amid a surge in global sales.

BYD’s move comes at a time of significant growth in China’s auto exports. According to official data:

As global demand for NEVs continues to grow, access to specialized car carriers is becoming increasingly critical. BYD’s investment in its own shipping fleet ensures greater control over logistics, mitigating risks and ensuring timely deliveries.
Supporting a Global Rollout
The BYD XI’AN, delivered just days earlier, is currently en route to Europe carrying 7,000 vehicles bound for markets such as the UK, Italy, Spain, and Belgium.
The addition of the BYD CHANGSHA is expected to significantly boost the company’s outbound shipping capacity and strengthen its supply chain as BYD expands into new international markets.
With its self-owned shipping fleet growing steadily, BYD is positioning itself not just as a global NEV leader, but also as a logistics innovator.
