  • Port Expands Global Links with Faster, Smarter Logistics.
  • Sea-Rail and China-Europe Express Boost Inland Connectivity.
  • Smart Port Tech Advances Automation and Efficiency.

As of June 23, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has hit a remarkable milestone, surpassing 20 million TEUs in container throughput—15 days ahead of last year’s record! This impressive feat showcases the port’s ability to adapt to changing global trade dynamics while steadily advancing towards a smarter and greener logistics system, reports Zhoushan.

Strengthening Global and Inland Connectivity

The port has been busy enhancing its connections with major global shipping lines and rolling out innovative logistics models like the Sea-Rail Express and China-Europe Express. New routes, such as Yiwu–Ningbo Zhoushan–Dubai and Anhui–Ningbo–Europe, have significantly boosted the efficiency and reliability of international trade.

With 308 container routes and 210 mega-vessels managed this year, Ningbo Zhoushan is solidifying its status as a key player in the global maritime scene. Plus, inland access has seen improvements thanks to rail links that connect three vital port areas.

Smart and Sustainable Port Development

On the tech front, the port is making strides with smart technologies, including automated vehicles, advanced crane control systems, and improved inland vessel operations. In terms of sustainability, LNG bunkering has surpassed 100,000 cubic meters, and a wind-solar-storage project at Meishan Port has produced an impressive 26 million kWh of green energy.

The port’s all-electric coastal vessel initiative has even received national recognition, marking a significant step in China’s journey towards low-carbon shipping.
