GTT Secures Cryogenic Tank Contract for Six LNG-Fueled Vessels

  • GTT received an order from HD KSOE to design cryogenic tanks for six LNG-fueled container ships for Capital.
  • Each vessel will be fitted with an 8,000 m³ tank using GTT’s Mark III Flex system with enhanced 1 barg pressure capability.
  • The advanced design supports regulatory compliance, improves LNG storage, and enables cold ironing.
  • LNG propulsion offers major emission reductions, cutting around 25,000 tonnes of CO₂ per vessel annually.

GTT has secured a new contract in the second quarter of 2025 from HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering to design cryogenic tanks for six LNG-fueled container vessels commissioned by shipowner Capital. Each ship will feature an 8,000 m³ tank using the Mark III Flex membrane containment system and a “1 barg” design, enabling higher pressure tolerance and longer LNG holding times.

This design aligns with future environmental regulations, particularly those concerning cold ironing. LNG propulsion significantly cuts emissions compared to traditional fuels, making it a cleaner alternative for the shipping industry. This development was reported by Gaztransport & Technigaz.
