Seatrium Deepens Partnership with Karpowership’s Kinetics

19

Singapore-based Seatrium Limited (the Group) has announced that it has secured a contract for the conversion of a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) from Kinetics. This award represents a significant win for Seatrium and further solidifies its partnership with Kinetics, an energy transition initiative launched by global floating power leader Karpowership.

Scope of Work and Advanced Systems

The conversion of the LNGC into the FSRU LNGT Turkiye involves a comprehensive scope of work designed to enable the vessel to store liquefied natural gas (LNG) and then regasify it for direct supply into a gas pipeline network. Key elements of the conversion include:

  • Regasification Module Installation: This is the core component that converts the super-cooled LNG back into its gaseous state.
  • Spread-Mooring System: Installation of a system that allows the FSRU to be securely anchored offshore, enabling it to operate as a floating terminal.
  • Integration of Key Supporting Systems: Extensive integration of various essential systems, such as:
    • Cargo Handling: For efficient loading and offloading of LNG.
    • Offloading: Systems for transferring regasified natural gas to an onshore pipeline or other receiving infrastructure.
    • Utility Systems: Providing necessary power, water, and other utilities for the FSRU’s operation.
    • Electrical Systems: Comprehensive electrical infrastructure to support all onboard operations.
    • Automation Systems: Advanced control and monitoring systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.

A Testament to a Strong Partnership

This contract marks the seventh FSRU project awarded by Kinetics to Seatrium, highlighting a strong and successful strategic partnership between the two companies. Alvin Gan, Executive Vice President, Repairs and Upgrades at Seatrium, expressed appreciation for Kinetics’ continued trust. He noted that four previous projects have already been successfully delivered, including the Karmol LNGT Powership Africa, Asia, Europe, and most recently, Antarctica.

Furthermore, Gan confirmed that two more FSRU conversion projects for Kinetics are currently underway at Seatrium’s yard, with deliveries anticipated later this year and in the first quarter of 2026. He emphasized that these ongoing and new projects “underscore Seatrium’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction, further cementing our position as a pioneer and market leader in the specialised FSRU conversion sector.”

Mehmet Katmer, Chief Executive Officer of Kinetics, echoed this sentiment, stating, “We are pleased to strengthen our excellent partnership with Seatrium as we expand our FSRU fleet to meet the highest industry standards.” He added that Seatrium’s “proven track record, engineering expertise, and technical capabilities make them an invaluable partner in supporting our mission to deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions worldwide.” Katmer highlighted that this latest contract represents a “significant milestone in Kinetics’ ambition to lead the global FSRU market in the coming years.”
