45 Years of NY-NJ and Tokyo Unity

The event took place on July 7, where port representatives met to renew their commitment by signing a new Sister Port Joint Statement.

Before the signing, the Tokyo delegation—which included members from the Bureau of Port and Harbor, Tokyo Port Terminal Company, and various port-related associations—toured facilities such as Port Liberty in Bayonne and the Cape Liberty Cruise Port.

The visit offered both ports an opportunity to reflect on past accomplishments and discuss future strategies for addressing common challenges.

The renewed agreement encourages collaboration in several key areas:

  • Enhancing operational efficiency
  • Promoting sustainable practices
  • Strengthening international marketing efforts

It also highlights the importance of sharing best practices and deepening mutual understanding between their port communities.
