Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) recently took part in the “Fire Drill Exercise on Board 2025” at Laem Chabang Port, Thailand, to strengthen emergency response coordination and inter-agency collaboration.
Realistic Emergency Scenario Simulated
The drill was conducted on “K” LINE’s car carrier BALTIMORE HIGHWAY at Berth A5, Namyong Terminal PCL, simulating an onboard fire during cargo operations with a missing worker—creating a complex, high-stakes emergency situation.

Firefighting and Rescue Coordination
The drill tested coordinated firefighting and search & rescue efforts between the crew and local emergency responders, reinforcing real-time communication, response protocols, and teamwork.
Reinforcing Maritime Safety
The exercise enhanced practical safety skills, validated emergency response capabilities, and improved inter-agency information sharing. It also reinforced the readiness of all involved parties to manage onboard crises effectively.
