Khazaen Dry Port Joins CMA CGM Network For Oman’s Global Trade Connectivity

13

Khazaen Dry Port (KDP), Oman’s premier inland logistics hub under the Asyad Group, has taken a significant leap forward by becoming part of the CMA CGM global shipping network.

This strategic move enhances KDP’s role in global trade, streamlines logistics, and supports the country’s long-term economic diversification goals as envisioned in Oman Vision 2040.

Strategic Integration with the CMA CGM Network

The partnership between KDP and CMA CGM opens up a new chapter for Omani trade. KDP is now officially recognized within CMA CGM’s international port network, allowing it to function as an endpoint in global shipping routes. The first successful container shipment via Sohar Port marks the beginning of smoother transshipment operations.

KDP’s advanced infrastructure and cutting-edge systems ensure seamless customs clearance and efficient cargo handling. By connecting directly to international markets, this integration minimizes logistical delays and boosts Oman’s status as a global logistics hub.

Enhanced Services and Regulatory Innovation

KDP is more than a dry port — it’s a complete logistics solution. It offers extended free storage (14 days for full containers, 21 days for empty ones), refrigerated container services, and on-site food and agricultural inspections. These features significantly speed up the movement of goods into local and regional markets.

Regulatory innovations, such as the use of “Shipping Agent Seal” and the replacement of traditional bank guarantees with a “written financial undertaking,” simplify processes while ensuring compliance. These changes have been implemented through close coordination between Asyad, CMA CGM, and the Royal Oman Police’s customs authority.

Khazaen Dry Port’s inclusion in CMA CGM’s global network is a milestone for Oman’s logistics sector. It enhances the country’s global connectivity, streamlines trade processes, and strengthens its position as a regional logistics powerhouse. This development is a clear step toward realizing Oman Vision 2040, promoting economic diversification, attracting investment, and building a sustainable, smart logistics infrastructure.
