- First ISCC-Certified R-LNG Marine Fuel Service Planned for West Coast.
- Seaspan Expands LNG Bunkering Portfolio with Anew Climate Partnership.
- New West Coast Initiative Targets Lower-Carbon Marine Fuel at Scale.
Seaspan Energy (Seaspan) and Anew Climate (Anew) have teamed up in a strategic partnership to provide renewable liquefied natural gas (R-LNG) to customers along the North American West Coast. Anew will deliver renewable natural gas (RNG) that’s certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and will also assist Seaspan with pre-audit services for ISCC certification. This fuel will meet global standards, including the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) Net-Zero Framework and the EU’s FuelEU Maritime Regulation, reports Seaspan.
First-of-Its-Kind Offering in the Region
This collaboration is a groundbreaking initiative on the West Coast, giving shipowners a more sustainable fuel choice. It builds on Anew Climate’s previous success, when it was known as Element Markets, of facilitating the first U.S. bio-LNG bunkering back in 2021.
Expanding Lower-Carbon Fuel Availability
Seaspan Energy, a frontrunner in ship-to-ship LNG bunkering, is set to broaden its offerings by including ISCC-certified R-LNG. This service will be one of the first to provide certified lower-carbon marine fuel at scale in the region, in line with IMO guidance that encourages the use of alternative fuels.
Driving Maritime Decarbonization
Through this partnership, Seaspan and Anew will seek out commercial opportunities to boost the adoption of lower-carbon fuels, helping to speed up the maritime industry’s shift toward cleaner energy solutions.
Anew Climate Highlights Urgency for Decarbonization
“At a time when global shipping is under pressure to decarbonise, this partnership brings together two innovators committed to advancing sustainable solutions. By combining Anew’s expertise in RNG with Seaspan’s marine logistic capabilities, we’re offering a market-leading approach to help shipowners meet evolving emissions requirements and reduce their environmental impact without compromising performance,” said Andy Brosnan, President, Anew Climate Low Carbon Fuels
Seaspan Energy Emphasises Innovation and Leadership
“We’re proud to collaborate with Anew Climate to forge a new path for lower-carbon marine fuel. This partnership supports our goal to provide cleaner energy solutions to the maritime industry and demonstrates our dedication to innovation and environmental leadership,” said Harly Penner, President, Seaspan Energy.
