Container Throughput at Port of Hong Kong Continues Decline in July

The Port of Hong Kong handled 1.079m teu in July, reflecting a decline of 6.5% compared to July 2025.

Drilling down into the figures the Kwai Tsing Terminals were not as adversely affected in July, where box numbers fell 2.9% to 819,000. In June, Kwai Tsing had seen container throughput fall 14%.

In July the midstream operators took the biggest hit as the number of containers handled fell 16.3% to 260,000 teu.

Total container throughput at the Port of Hong Kong for the first seven months of 2025 stands at 7.632m teu. The figure represents a 3.7% shortfall compared to the same period in 2024.
