Mixed Trends in July 2025 Cargo Movement Across Pilbara Ports

Pilbara Ports recorded a total throughput of 64.4 million tonnes (Mt) in July 2025, reflecting strong activity across its operations. This represents an eight percent increase compared to the same month last year, according to the latest report from Pilbara Ports.

Monthly Throughput Performance

The Port of Port Hedland reported a monthly throughput of 46.9 Mt, with iron ore exports contributing 46.6 Mt. This marked a seven percent rise compared to July 2024. Imports through the port reached 240,000 tonnes, showing a 25 percent increase year-on-year.

The Port of Dampier handled 14.3 Mt in total throughput, which was a two percent decline compared to the previous year. Imports through Dampier stood at 98,000 tonnes, representing a 42 percent decrease from July 2024.

Throughput variations are often influenced by market demand, port maintenance schedules, and the operational requirements of port users.
