Navios Maritime Partners has strengthened its position in the containership market with a $460m acquisition of four newbuild boxships. The 8,850 teu vessels, designed to be methanol-ready and equipped with scrubbers, were purchased for $115.1m each from an undisclosed seller. Deliveries are expected between late 2027 and early 2028, according to Splash247.

The deal follows Navios Partners’ recent investment of $133m in two aframax/LR2 tanker resales, bringing its tanker newbuilding program to 12 units. The company now operates a diversified fleet of 67 bulkers, 47 boxships, and 57 tankers. Its orderbook extends through 2028, with 18 tankers and eight containerships scheduled for delivery. While the seller and yard for the latest quartet remain undisclosed, shipbuilding circles have connected the company to a similar order at South Korea’s HJ Shipbuilding & Construction, where Navios already maintains contracts.
