On September 8, Chinese stakeholders came together to sign an agreement aimed at developing a maritime green ammonia fuel supply chain in China, as reported by China Marine Bunker (Petro China) (Chimbusco) on Friday, September 12. This significant event took place during the 7th Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum held in Xiamen, Fujian, reports Manifold Times.
Partnership for Green Fuel Development
The agreement involves Chimbusco, the China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, Tianjin Southwest Maritime Limited, the classification society DNV, and Jinzhou Port, all of whom are committed to the Initiative to Jointly Develop a Maritime Green Ammonia Fuel Supply Chain. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Transport’s Water Transport Research Institute, aims to foster collaboration, establish a green ammonia maritime supply system, and encourage technological innovation and development.
Focus on Industry Chain Integration
Chimbusco highlighted that this supply chain will improve the connections between supply, transportation, and demand, while also speeding up the growth of ammonia fuel production, transportation, storage, trade, and bunkering.
Silk Road Maritime Roundtable 2025
At the forum, the 2025 Silk Road Maritime Roundtable brought together nearly 30 representatives from ports, shipping, and related sectors for discussions under the theme of “Integrated Development of Ports, Shipping, and Trade under the Framework of Regional Cooperation.”
Qin Ling, Party Committee Secretary and General Manager of Chimbusco, shared his views on how to leverage the cross-sector advantages of the Silk Road Maritime network to promote the integrated development of ports, shipping, and trade along it.
Adoption of the 2025 Xiamen Initiative
The roundtable wrapped up with everyone on board for the 2025 Xiamen Initiative of the Silk Road Maritime. This initiative aims to boost international collaboration and spark fresh ideas to enhance the development of ports, shipping, and trade.
